In their second consecutive championship appearance the Rats would face off against rival Average Boos. The Rats were victourious in both meetings so far this season and after a heart breaking final loss last season the Rats were determined not to have the same fate.

In game one the Rats would open the scoring minutes into the contest when Paul Beyer would harmlessly throw a puck on goal which bounced its way into the back of the twine. Boos would battle back knotting the game at one to close out the first half. In the second half the Rats would find themselves in a defensive battle. But with the game winding down and the score tied an unlikely hero would arised and provide his team with the added spark they would need. Justin Winowski would step off the bench battling a lower back injury and create a shift to the ages. Banging home two goals in less than a minutes time. Average Boos leading scorer Gene would score his second cutting the lead in half (3-2). But with a victory within reach the Rats would not faulter. Stephen Hague and Chris Danish would add insurance goals closing out game one and bringing the Rats to within 50 minutes of a championship.

Scoring Summary Game 1:Chris Danish (1-2-3) Justin Winowski (2-0-2) Paul Beyer (1-0-1) Stephen Hague (1-0-1) Jonny Baron (0-1-1).

In game two, the Rats would once again jump ahead to an early lead with a blistering slap shot off Paul Beyer's stick. That goal seemed to awake a flat Average Boos team. Leading them to score two straight taking their first lead of the series. This would be the start of a run and gun styled game, one which the Rats rarely take part in. Beyer would eventually tie things up (2-2) only to have Average Boos take the lead on the very next play. With time coming to a close in the first half, Stephen Hague would provide the offense he has displayed all season long sending this game into halftime with the score knotted up at three and the Rats only 25 minutes from glory. In the second Boos would once again take the lead on Gene's third of the contest. That lead would be short lived as James Sozomeou would blast a slapshot into the upper corner bringing the score to 4 all, for those in attendence the shot would display just why James is considered one of the most feared shooters in the league. The cycle would repeat once again. This time it would be Stephen Hague's second of the game that would provide a counter to Team Boos goal (5-5). As the game began to wind down it was apparent that the next goal could be winner. Playing with desperation Average Boos would break thru late giving them their 5th lead of the game. It would be at this time that Paul Beyer, known for strong play-off performances, would take control and carry his team. He would start by depositing a perfectly placed slapshot under the crossbar once again tying things up. Moments later he would up that with yet another slapshot goal providing his team with a lead that they had fought nearly 40 minutes to regain. The goal was his fourth of the game. Yet still he was not done adding an assist on a Chris Danish goal that send the clock into it's final countdown. The Rats would coast into the final minute with the lead, anxiously awaiting their first championship in over a year. The clock would sound and the waiting would be over. The River Rats were offically the T.R.S.C. Memorial Cup Champions. Marking the offical start of the "YEAR OF THE RAT!"

Scoring Summary Game 2: Paul Beyer (4-1-5) Stephen Hague (2-0-2) Edwin Baron (0-2-2) Chris Danish (1-0-1) James Sozomenou (1-0-1) Justin Winowski (0-1-1) Jonny Baron (0-1-1).
